life at aziza's place
Aziza’s Place provides a nurturing home-away-from-home for nine boys and twelve girls. We work hard to comprehensively address the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of each resident child. The children receive three balanced meals per day, along with wholesome snacks and supplemental vitamins. Every child receives preventative vaccinations, regularly scheduled health and dental check-ups, and access to professional medical treatment and prescribed medications. All but four orphans return to their families every Saturday, ensuring the children keep their family bond intact.

A willingness to study is a requirement of Aziza’s Place. We are located half a block from the children’s Khmer public school where the children learn Mathematics, Khmer (their native language), and Social Sciences through the Cambodian system. Aziza’s Place offers supplemental education in Math, English and Khmer reading and writing for students requiring additional scholastic help. Students have English and computer class everyday, taught by hired and volunteer teachers.

Aziza’s Place is a proud recipient of the One Laptop per Child Programme, giving each child their own XO Computer with access to the internet. Film, art, music, and photography inspire creativity and innovation through our visual arts programme. Extracurricular sports and field trips are integral to experiential learning at Aziza’s Place; the most recent was a trip to the ancient Angkor Wat temples. The distinct combination of structure and openness within Aziza’s Place is geared to cater to the specialized abilities and individual goals of each child.

Cambodia is a developing country whose job market is in need of those with English literacy and computer skills. Training from Aziza’s Place will open great opportunities and advantages for graduates searching for jobs. Our goal is to do more than provide the children with job skills, but to open their mind’s to their full potential. We strive to challenge our students. Through distinctive programming, visual arts and one-on-one vocational and life skills training, Aziza’s Place empowers.
